Breed and Avery

Both immigrant ancestors, Allen Breed and Christopher Avery, arrived in Massachusetts from England during the “Great Migration” about 1630.  Afterwards the Breed and Avery families independently migrated to New London, Connecticut.

Obadiah Howard’s wife was Priscilla Breed, daughter of Joseph Breed and Priscilla Avery.  Joseph and Priscilla were born in Connecticut and were married there in June 1737.  Priscilla was born Oct 14, 1742 in Groton, CT.  By 1754 the family had moved to Frederick County, VA and by 1756 they had moved with a group of Separate Baptists, led by Rev. Shubal Stearns, to Orange County, NC.  Priscilla married Obadiah there sometime in 1758.
